This page contains the experiments covered in the Apologia Advanced Physics curriculum course, which is designed for students who have already completed a high school physics course equivalent to one year of university-level physics, like an AP (Advanced Placement) course. This course uses trigonometry (which is shown in step-by-step detail, so you can do this course even if you've never had it or are a little rusty).
This course includes kinematics, dynamics, rotational motion, gravity, oscillations, waves, optics, thermal physics, electrical forces, electrical potential, DC circuits, magnetic forces, atomic physics, and nuclear physics. The student is also given an introduction to special relativity and general relativity.
After completing this course, you'll have more than a complete foundation for college. The experiments listed below are those found in the textbook, so all you have to do is click the link below and watch the step by step instructional videos for each experiment. There's over 300 videos and experiments to choose from below!
In some cases, the experiments mentioned in the book were somewhat lacking in scope and depth (or simply didn't work, were unsafe, or flat boring), so I've expanded the experiment and created something better that really covers the scientific concepts and keeps your kids excited and engaged in doing real science.
Most experiments have data logs and worksheets with them as well in addition to exercises to answer.
You can purchase the kit to do the experiments listed in the textbook here. I've added extra experiments in addition to the ones in the book, so look them over and see which experiments you'd like to do, and then see if you can figure out way to perform the experiment with the materials and equipment you already have. Have fun!
