This is a recording of a recent live teleclass I did with thousands of kids from all over the world. I’ve included it here so you can participate and learn, too! Learn about the world of rocks, crystals, gems, fossils, and minerals by moving beyond just looking at pretty stones and really being able to identify, test, and classify samples and specimens you come across using techniques that real field experts use. While most people might think of a rock as being fun to climb or toss into a pond, you will now be able to see the special meaning behind the naturally occurring material that is made out of minerals by understanding how the minerals are joined together, what their crystalline structure is like, and much more.
Materials:
- Geology Field Trip in a Bag
- Worksheet printout
- Unglazed porcelain tile (or the bottom of a coffee mug)
- Paper plate or disposable pie pan
- Microscope slide
- Magnifying glass
- Cup of water
- Steel nail
- Double-sided tape
- Magnet
COOL!!!!!!!!
Yes! Look in Unit 20 – there’s a huge selection of them.
Is there any more expirents or vidoes.
Yes, that’s absolutely what I’d recommend: simply watch and follow along first, then go back and do the activities once you’ve watched the class all the way through.
What’s the best way to do this with a 9 year old. Should we watch it all the way through first and then go back and do what you are doing in the video (pause it and do the activities you are doing) and then continue. What do you recommend.
I am so sorry for the frustration! I’ll have someone contact you right away to help with this.
I am not tech savy. Thinking it was a mistake to have purchased this curriculum because of my lack of tech knowledge. I am suppose to be an e science member for elementary grades with some other bonuses. Everything I hit to watch says I dont have access to but will in 1-2 months which is……making me angry. I cant figure out where to start, what I actually have access to it is just not a good way to spend my time trying to figure out. I got this because I loved Aura and her lessons and what i thought would be ease of use.
I have a 4th and 5th grader.
What do I have access to right now???? Where do I find it???
