Time to start building some circuits, in this experiment we’ll use a 4049 hex inverter IC to build a simple logic probe. Logic probes are used to assist in debugging digital electronics.

This specifically means measuring how much current a circuit is drawing, and current is measured by placing the meter in series with the power source and the circuit under test (Positive lead of the meter connected to the
positive lead of the power and negative lead of the meter connected to the positive input of the circuit). This is where math comes in and using Ohms Law to calculate how much current the circuit is pulling in theory, if the
math says it’s pulling more then 200ma, then it’s not safe to use the meter to actually measure the current the circuit is actually drawing. In fact, until you become more familiar with electronics and electricity in general,
I recommend against measuring current, it’s a good way to kill your meter if you aren’t careful.
The manual for the multimeter says that I cannot come in contact with more than 200 mA. When and where would it be likely for me to encounter amperage of this caliber?
